Sometimes people think that if they overthink,they can prevent the bad things from happening.And they think if they don’t rehash the past or don’t worry enough,they’ll encounter more problems.But research is pretty much clear that overthinking is bad for you and it does nothing to solve or prevent problems.You should keep this in your mind always to stop overthinking.

  1. You ask yourself a lot “what if…” questions.
  2. You relive embarrassing moments in your head repeatedly.
  3. You spend a lot of time thinking about the hidden meaning in things that people say or events happen with you.

  5. When someone says or acts you don’t like,you keep replaying it in your mind.
  6. You rehash conversations you had with people in your mind and think about all the things you wished you had or hadn’t said.
  7. You have trouble sleeping because it feels like your brain won’t shut off.
  8. Sometimes you are not aware of what’s going on around yourself because you are dwelling on things that happened in the past or worrying about things that happen in the future.

I think Some people are genetically overrhinkers.So Genetic disposition would be the main cause for being vulnerable to mental illness.

  • Focus on taking action rather than just thinking.
  • Distract yourself when you identify you’re entering a loop of overthinking.
  • Share your thoughts with someone, they’ll help you decide where you’re crossing the limit of overthinking.
  • Learn to let go , especially about things not in our hands.
  • Try to live in the present.
